Call for Volunteers: C. elegans Managing Editors for microPublication Biology
","content":"microPublication Biology is seeking members of the C. elegans research community to serve as volunteer Managing Editors.
microPublication Biology publishes brief, peer-reviewed reports with results presented in a single figure of single experimental results — new alleles, expression patterns, negative results, replications, and other findings that are valuable but often never reach print. Each article is curated directly into WormBase and other partner Model Organism Databases, so the data become discoverable and reusable by the entire community. The journal's growth depends on scientists willing to help shepherd submissions through peer review and publishing, if accepted.
What a Managing Editor does
Managing Editors are the scientific contact for a manuscript submission. Working with a Science Officer, you will assess whether a C. elegans manuscript fits the journal's scope, vet and invite appropriate peer reviewers, mediate all correspondence between editorial staff, the author, and reviewers, and see the manuscript through submission to final decision. Submissions are short, and the workload is modest — typically a few manuscripts a month, handled on your own schedule.
Who we are looking for
Postdocs, staff scientists, and faculty at any career stage with hands-on C. elegans experience and a sound grasp of the field's standards for experimental rigor. Prior editorial experience is welcome but not required; training and support are provided.
